Establishing a Support System to Ease Manpower Shortages at Local SMEs and Expand Youth Employment
Boosting Job Matching Through Linkages with KOSME's Corporate Manpower Difficulty Center and Other Platforms
The Korea Small and Medium Business Corporation (KOSME) announced on February 26 that it had signed a "Business Agreement for Nurturing Region- and Industry-Specific Talent and Resolving Manpower Shortages at Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises" with Sangmyung University.
The signing ceremony was held that day at the Cheonan Campus of Sangmyung University in Cheonan, South Chungcheong Province. It was arranged to alleviate the imbalance in the supply and demand of manpower at small and medium-sized enterprises and to expand youth employment opportunities, through cooperation between Sangmyung University, which nurtures young talent, and KOSME, a comprehensive support institution for small and medium-sized ventures.
Through this agreement, the two institutions decided to cooperate in a wide range of areas, including nurturing region- and industry-specific talent, matching excellent university talent with promising local small and medium-sized enterprises, and strengthening industry-academia-government cooperation systems through exchanges of professional personnel.
KOSME plans to strengthen its support for linking talent in future high-tech industries such as artificial intelligence and semiconductors with promising local small and medium-sized enterprises by utilizing its Job Matching Platform, the Corporate Manpower Difficulty Center, and the K-Work Platform.
The two institutions will link their talent development education programs and jointly utilize infrastructure such as facilities and space for nurturing talent, in order to enhance the effectiveness of their cooperation.
KOSME plans to ease manpower shortages in regional industrial sites and build an ecosystem in which young people can grow together with small and medium-sized ventures by cooperating with major universities.
Kang Sukjin, Chairman of KOSME, said, "Young talent is the key driving force that will lead innovative growth for small and medium-sized ventures," adding, "I hope this agreement will provide high-quality job opportunities where young people can realize their dreams, and serve as an opportunity to connect companies suffering from manpower shortages with excellent talent like much-needed rain."
Kim Jonghee, President of Sangmyung University, said, "By cooperating with KOSME, we will do our best in the field of education so that students can strengthen their practical on-site capabilities and demonstrate their abilities at outstanding small and medium-sized ventures."
