The Korea Green Climate Awards is a leading comprehensive domestic award in the climate and energy sector organized by the National Assembly Climate Change Forum. It recognizes and awards local governments, public institutions, companies, civic groups, and individuals that have contributed to responding to climate change and realizing the energy transition.

According to the National Assembly Climate Change Forum, an open call for entries was held across a total of seven categories from December 29, 2025, to January 30, 2026, and 31 local governments applied in the local government category. Based on the screening results from the preliminary and final evaluations, Paju City was selected as the final award recipient.

This award is the result of comprehensive recognition of the "Paju-style RE100" policies, including: a public renewable energy direct power purchase agreement (PPA) utilizing national and public land; promotion of a specialized distributed energy zone; RE100 education, advisory services, and consultations for citizens, small business owners, and children; and the establishment of the nation’s first dedicated RE100 organization and ordinance.

A Paju City official stated, "This award recognizes the effectiveness of our policy implementation in systematically improving the regional power supply and demand structure through public renewable energy direct power purchase agreements (PPAs) and support for companies responding to RE100," adding, "We will continue to focus on advancing the regional energy system by securing renewable energy power, expanding the distributed energy base, revitalizing resident-participatory energy projects, and enhancing infrastructure for hydrogen-fueled mobility."
