Global cosmetics ODM (research, development, and manufacturing) company Cosmax is accelerating its expansion into the Southwest Asian and Middle Eastern markets by presenting life-cycle-based wellness beauty solutions in Indonesia. Cosmax plans to strengthen its premium product portfolio with innovative ingredients and formulation technologies, and to target markets that share a similar climate zone with Indonesia.


Cosmax Indonesia announced on the 26th that it successfully held the 6th "Cosmax Innovation Conference 2026" in Jakarta, Indonesia, on the 13th.


Every year, Cosmax hosts the Innovation Conference for local clients in Indonesia and local stakeholders such as the Indonesian Food and Drug Authority, introducing the latest trends and technologies in the beauty and wellness sectors.


This year's event was attended by key figures including Jung Minkyoung, Head of Cosmax Indonesia, Kwon Soongoo, Head of Global Marketing at Cosmax Bio, and representatives from Cosmax Group, as well as Dian Putri Anggraeni, Director of Standardization for Traditional Medicines, Health Supplements, and Cosmetics at the Indonesian Food and Drug Authority. Around 250 people from approximately 70 local client companies also participated.

The conference, held under the theme "Wellness and Harmonious Life: Balancing Science, Senses, and Self-Care," showcased beauty solutions tailored to different stages of the life cycle. This strategy goes beyond the pursuit of superficial beauty to focus on strengthening and maintaining the skin's inherent health over the long term.


The event highlighted Cosmax's differentiated active ingredients and formulation technologies, focusing on "skin longevity" and "active aging," which are currently key concepts in the cosmetics industry.


Cosmax has established a sensory (sensory evaluation) lab within its Indonesia Research & Innovation (R&I) Center and is strengthening its localization research base by scientifically analyzing product feel, spreadability, fragrance, and other attributes for local consumers. At this year's event, Cosmax also presented sensory research case studies based on a market survey of the Indonesian sun care segment.


Going forward, Cosmax plans to use the sensory lab to closely analyze the formulations preferred by local consumers and to propose premium solutions that offer superiority not only in efficacy but also in emotional appeal. In particular, the company aims to strengthen its research and development capabilities by using India and other Southwest Asian and Middle Eastern markets located in tropical climates similar to Indonesia as strategic bases.


"Cosmax Indonesia is enhancing its climate-tailored cosmetics R&D capabilities based on its expertise in producing halal products," said Jung Minkyoung, Head of Cosmax Indonesia. "We will introduce premium products that appeal not only in terms of price competitiveness and quality but also to the emotions of local consumers, and thereby expand into neighboring countries."


Meanwhile, starting from October 17 this year, all beauty products distributed in Indonesia will be required to obtain halal certification. Since acquiring Indonesian halal certification in 2016, Cosmax Indonesia has been producing all of its products in accordance with halal standards.
