The exhibition will be held sequentially at the Yingge Ceramics Museum in Taiwan (from January 15 to March 21, 2027, for 65 days), the Gyeonggi Ceramic Museum in Korea (from April 9 to June 13, 2027, for 65 days), and the Museum of Modern Ceramic Art, Gifu in Japan (from July 2 to September 5, 2027, for 65 days).

This project is a long-term international cooperation initiative based on the three-party memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed in September 2025 between the Gyeonggi Ceramic Museum of the Korea Ceramic Foundation, the New Taipei City Yingge Ceramics Museum, and the Museum of Modern Ceramic Art, Gifu. After signing the exhibition agreement, the institutions completed reviews of the exhibition spaces and set the overarching theme, thereby establishing an implementation framework for the touring exhibition.

"2027 Asia Ceramic Circle" is particularly meaningful in that it continues the legacy of the international touring project "Asian Ceramic Delta," jointly promoted by Korea, Taiwan and Japan in 2006-2007. That project, which began at the Icheon World Ceramic Center (now the Gyeonggi Ceramic Museum) and then toured the Yingge Ceramics Museum in Taiwan and the Museum of Modern Ceramic Art, Gifu in Japan, has been regarded as a pioneering model of cooperation featuring leading artists from the three countries. It remains a symbolic case that sought coexistence and balance in contemporary East Asian ceramic art.

The new "Asia Ceramic Circle" is a next-generation East Asian ceramic cooperation platform that is being reactivated after 20 years, building on that network. While the "Delta" symbolized intersection and balance among the three countries, the "Circle" signifies circulation, connection and expansion. It reflects the intention to move beyond one-off exchanges and develop a sustainable, cyclical structure of cooperation.

The Asia Ceramic Circle is a jointly curated international exhibition featuring a total of 30 artists, with 10 artists from each country. The exhibition title and participating artists are scheduled to be finalized through joint consultations among the three institutions between February and March 2026.

A notable feature of this exhibition is that, instead of each country’s institution selecting its own national artists as in the past, it introduces a structure in which institutions from other countries select the artists. Korean artists will be selected by the Taiwanese and Japanese institutions, Taiwanese artists by the Korean and Japanese institutions, and Japanese artists by the Korean and Taiwanese institutions. By moving beyond an inward-looking perspective and reinterpreting from external viewpoints, the exhibition is expected to present new discourses and standards for contemporary East Asian ceramic art.

Ryu Inkwon, President of the Korea Ceramic Foundation, said, "This touring exhibition will serve as an opportunity to present new discourses on ceramics that reflect the social and cultural changes of the past 20 years and connect with contemporary visual culture," adding, "Through this, we will strengthen the foundation of cooperation among Asia’s specialized ceramic institutions and build a long-term exchange system that expands into academic research and residency programs."
