A new scholarship program called the "Blue Lighthouse Singer Younha Donation Scholarship" has been established with a donation from singer Younha.

On the 25th, Younha shared on her social media (SNS) a post saying, "Friends in physics and astronomy departments, apply for the Younha Scholarship. You have to win a Nobel Prize," along with the Korea Student Aid Foundation's announcement for recruiting "new recipients of the Blue Lighthouse Donation Scholarship for the first semester of 2026."

The Blue Lighthouse Donation Scholarship is a program that provides living expenses to outstanding low-income university students in various fields, funded by donations from individuals and corporations. In this semester, a total of 17 donors are participating to select new scholarship recipients, and among them is a scholarship in the name of "Singer Younha."

"Shine Like the Stars": Younha Donates 100 Million Won in Scholarships for Science Students Younha has served as a bridge between the public and science by collaborating with science content creators and participating in lectures and talk programs on astronomy. The scholarship will be operated not as a one-off event but as an ongoing program that provides continued support for low-income university students majoring in physics and astronomy at a scale of 100 million won per year. The Younha Scholarship will provide a total of 62.5 million won, offering 2.5 million won per person to 25 university students majoring in physics or astronomy. Younha donated 50 million won, Younha's band donated 2.5 million won, and Shuka World, a YouTuber known for economic and current affairs content, contributed an additional 10 million won. Eligible applicants are students with Korean nationality who are currently enrolled in four-year universities or junior colleges in Korea and fall within or below the sixth bracket of the student financial aid scale. However, the name of their department must include "physics" or "astronomy," and medical or health-related departments such as physical therapy are excluded.

Previously, in December last year, Younha visited the Seoul office of the Korea Student Aid Foundation in Jung-gu, Seoul, and donated 100 million won in scholarship funds. At the time, she said, "I hope that students studying physics and astronomy can devote themselves to their studies without financial worries and grow into talents who shine as brightly as the stars in the night sky."

Younha has consistently expressed a deep interest in science and space. Her signature song "Event Horizon" uses an astronomical term meaning the boundary of a black hole as its title, and "Oort Cloud" was inspired by the concept of a hypothetical cloud surrounding the solar system. In interviews and broadcasts, she has said that she enjoys reading astronomy books and frequently watches documentaries about space, and has long been known as a "science geek."

"Shine Like the Stars": Younha Donates 100 Million Won in Scholarships for Science Students A national scholarship for university students majoring in basic sciences (physics and astronomy), the 'Pureundeungdae Singer Younha Donation Scholarship', has been established through a donation from singer Younha, with C9 Entertainment and the Korea Student Aid Foundation.

In practice, Younha has acted as a bridge between the public and science by collaborating with science content creators and participating in lectures and talk programs on astronomy. This scholarship will likewise not be a one-off event but will be operated as a program to continuously support low-income university students majoring in physics and astronomy, with a budget of 100 million won per year. An official from the Korea Student Aid Foundation said, "This is a meaningful example of supporting the development of science and engineering talent through private donations," adding, "It will help create an environment in which science students can fully concentrate on their studies."
