Replacement of Old Signboard and Improvement of Nighttime Lighting
Enhancing Both Urban Aesthetics and Pedestrian Safety
The Gacheon-myeon Administrative Welfare Center in Seongju County, North Gyeongsang Province, has completed a sleek makeover by fully replacing the old signboard on the exterior wall of the government building.
This maintenance project replaced the old, discolored signboard, which had suffered from poor legibility, thereby enhancing the image of the building. At the same time, by reinforcing nighttime lighting, it greatly improved residents' visibility when walking at night.

In particular, this replacement goes beyond simple facility maintenance, as it is significant for applying the principles of Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED). By illuminating the previously dark surroundings of the building with bright lighting at night, it maximizes natural surveillance, provides pedestrians walking late at night with a sense of psychological security, and helps create a safer street environment.
A resident who saw the newly refurbished building said, "The old signboard was worn out and hard to see at night, which made the area feel rather dark, but after the replacement, the atmosphere of the village has become much brighter and more vibrant."
Lee Sugyeong, head of Gacheon-myeon, said, "I hope this exterior refurbishment of the government building will mark the beginning of more approachable and friendly public service that is closer to residents," adding, "We will continue to do our best to create a pleasant and safe administrative environment that residents can feel in their daily lives."
