Creating "Reply, Kim Younggon"
through the 1 Night 2 Days on-site immersion project
On the 19th, Kim Younggon, preliminary candidate for Gyeongnam Superintendent of Education, announced on his social media that he will launch an on-site immersion project titled "Kim Younggon's 1 Night 2 Days," in which he will stay one full day in each city and county of South Gyeongsang Province to directly experience local daily life and educational settings.
This project goes beyond brief courtesy visits and greeting-focused schedules, and will instead be carried out in a way that has him stay in one area and share in the everyday life of local residents.
The aim is not to limit educational issues to the classroom, but to seek answers within the living environment of each community.
Kim plans to fully experience a day in each area by engaging in conversations with local residents, greeting people during commuting hours, visiting and experiencing educational facilities, visiting religious facilities and township and town offices, and including lodging and sunrise schedules.
The Kim Younggon campaign explained, "Educational issues do not exist only inside classrooms," adding, "We planned this project based on the recognition that commuting conditions, childcare support, and the local living infrastructure determine the quality of education."
The campaign further added, "The purpose is to personally confirm, with our own bodies, the inconveniences in daily life and the recurring demands that do not show up in reports."
The first destination will be Jinju. Next week, Kim plans to stay in Jinju for 1 night and 2 days, meeting a wide range of residents including parents, teachers, students, and small business owners, and listening closely to local educational conditions and everyday problems.
The voices gathered on site will not remain as mere records. The campaign plans to organize them into concrete policies and announce them through its weekly policy project, "Reply, Kim Younggon."
Kim Younggon said, "Policy must come from a person's day, not from a meeting room," and added, "Based on what I see, hear, and feel over the 1 night and 2 days, I will present policies that responsibly respond to the questions of the provincial residents."
He went on to stress, "By directly living in the cities and counties of South Gyeongsang Province, I will seek educational answers that can revitalize each community."
The Kim Younggon camp stated, "Going forward, through 'Kim Younggon's 1 Night 2 Days,' we plan to tour all of South Gyeongsang Province and continuously present practical, everyday life-centered educational policies, grounded in the experiences accumulated on the ground."
