Recruiting 130 Unemployed Youths Aged 18 to 34
Dongjak-gu in Seoul (Mayor Park Ilha) has been selected for the second consecutive year in the Ministry of Employment and Labor’s open call for the “2026 Youth Challenge Support Project,” securing 579 million won in national funding and beginning recruitment of participants.
The Youth Challenge Support Project is designed to boost the job motivation of young people who have given up on job seeking and to encourage their participation in the labor market. Eligible applicants are unemployed youths aged 18 to 34 who are job-discouraged, preparing for self-reliance, entering or leaving youth welfare facilities, North Korean defectors, or victims of humidifier disinfectant. Locally specialized youth can apply up to the age of 39 (ages 35 to 39).
The recruitment quota is a total of 130 people: 30 for the short-term course (5 weeks), 65 for the mid-term course (15 weeks), and 35 for the long-term course (25 weeks). Applications are accepted from February until all spots are filled. Participation allowances and incentives are paid differentially from 500,000 won up to a maximum of 3.5 million won per person, depending on the program duration and job search performance. The program is tailored to the individual characteristics of each participant and consists of intensive counseling, case management, confidence recovery, career exploration, and strengthening of job competencies.
Applications can be submitted online via the Employment 24 website or the Noryangjin Youth Job Center website. Applicants may also visit the Noryangjin Youth Job Center (2nd floor, Megastudy Tower, 140 Noryangjin-ro) in person with the required documents to apply. For more information, contact the Youth Challenge Support Project Team at the Noryangjin Youth Job Center (02-3280-0560).
Park Ilha, Mayor of Dongjak-gu, said, “The ultimate goal of this project is to provide a stepping stone so that young people who have temporarily stopped looking for work can find the courage to try again,” adding, “We will actively support youth-tailored programs so that they can lead to tangible employment and self-reliance.”
