Two Buildings, Library and Lifelong Learning Center, Total Floor Area of 7,876㎡
Guro District in Seoul (District Mayor Jang Inhong) will hold an opening ceremony for the new complex cultural space "Guro Munhwa Nuri" in Gaebong-dong at 2:00 p.m. on the 24th and begin full-scale operations.
Guro Munhwa Nuri, built on the site of the KBS transmission station in Gaebong-dong (123 Gaebong-ro 20-gil), is a multi-generational complex cultural space with a total floor area of 7,876㎡. It consists of two buildings: a library (floors 1 to 4, 5,104㎡) and a lifelong learning center (floors 1 to 3, 2,772㎡).
On the first floor of the library, there will be a youth space "Moyeoguro," a literary creation support space "House of Literature Guro," a book cafe, and a community childcare center, while the second to fourth floors will serve as the central library. The lifelong learning center will house the World Cafe (first floor), the Lifelong Learning Center (second to third floors), and the Guro Scholarship Foundation and Public Interest Activity Support Center (third floor).
About 100 people, including Guro District Mayor Jang Inhong, key guests, and local residents, are expected to attend the opening ceremony. The event will begin with a celebratory performance by "Sing In The People," followed by a tape-cutting ceremony and a tour of the facilities. On the day of the event, resident-participation programs such as the book curation event "The Power to Read the World: Literacy," guestbook making, Scandia moss frame making, and special foreign language lectures will also be offered.
After the opening, programs such as the book talk "Warm Comfort Delivered by Books" with announcer Lee Geumhee, the humanities lecture "The Future of the Reading Human" with EBS producer Kim Jiwon and Hanyang University professor Cho Byoungyoung, the Guro World Cafe foreign language program, Guro Life School, and everyday literacy classes will be operated.
An official from the district said, "We hope that through Guro Munhwa Nuri, residents will naturally encounter books and culture in their daily lives, learn together, and communicate with one another," adding, "We will develop it into an open cultural space where anyone will want to stay."
