"2026 Regulatory Improvement Idea Contest" To Be Held
Changwon Special City in South Gyeongsang Province will hold the "2026 Changwon Regulatory Improvement Idea Contest" to identify and improve unreasonable regulations that restrict the daily lives of citizens and the economic activities of companies and small business owners.
The contest will run for 30 days from February 19 to March 20, 2026, and anyone interested in regulatory improvement can participate regardless of region.
The contest will seek improvement plans for unreasonable regulations arising from defects in laws and institutional systems. The detailed categories are five key areas: people's livelihood and the real economy, welfare and housing, jobs and second chances, new industries and corporate vitality, and administrative and cultural innovation, and it will broadly cover all areas of administrative regulation.
Participants can submit entries via the city website, email, postal mail, or in person. After a preliminary review, the submitted ideas will be evaluated based on creativity, feasibility, and effectiveness. They will first be screened by a working-level review panel and then undergo final evaluation by the Regulatory Reform Committee to be selected as outstanding projects.
Six outstanding proposers will receive a mayor's commendation and a total of 1.7 million won in prize money. The final results will be posted on the city website in June 2026 and will also be individually notified to the winners.
Legal Affairs Officer Kim Hongyeon said, "Through this contest, we plan to actively identify real regulatory difficulties experienced in the field of daily life and economic activity," adding, "We will spare no administrative effort to ensure that the proposed ideas lead to practical institutional improvements."
