Promoting Stay-Type Tourism Through Tailored Support
for Accommodation and Same-Day Travel
North Gyeongsang Province's Chilgok County has announced that, starting in 2026, it will provide incentives to domestic and international travel agencies in order to expand stay-type tourism through attracting tourists and to revitalize the local economy.
Chilgok County, which has not previously operated an incentive support policy for attracting tourists, is focusing on promoting its ecological tourism resources such as the fierce battlefields of the Korean War, Catholic pilgrimage sites, and Palgongsan Mountain, and on activating stay-type tourism that enables real local spending, moving away from simple stopover-type tours.
The support will be available to travel agencies registered under the Tourism Promotion Act. Incentives will be provided depending on whether they meet the support conditions when they operate Chilgok County tour products that bring group tourists to Chilgok County and increase the length of stay by including experiential programs and accommodations, in addition to same-day products.
Travel agencies must submit a prior travel plan to the county at least seven days before the trip, and within 15 days after the trip ends, they must submit an incentive payment application form along with receipts for tourist attractions and restaurants, proof of accommodation use, and proof of use of paid experiential programs.
An official from Chilgok County said, "Through the incentive support policy, we will expand stay-type tourism in Chilgok County where visitors can eat, sleep, and enjoy themselves, and we will make even greater efforts to develop Chilgok-style tourism content."
