Jeollanam-do Province will operate 3,359 medical institutions, including hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies (1,739 hospitals and clinics, 279 public health centers, and 1,341 pharmacies), and will activate its emergency medical system from February 14 to 18 during the Lunar New Year holiday to make it easier for residents to access medical services.

To provide emergency care, 45 emergency rooms, including those at Mokpo Korea Hospital and St. Carollo Hospital, will operate 24 hours a day, and a doctor helicopter will also be deployed so that emergency patients on the islands can be transported quickly when needed.

Information on hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies that are open during the holiday period is available through the Emergency Medical Portal, the Emergency Medical Information (E-Gen) app, the Ministry of Health and Welfare Call Center (129), the Emergency Dispatch Control Center (119), and the Jeollanam-do Call Center (120). It can also be checked on the websites of the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the province, and city and county governments.

Jeollanam-do Province will operate an emergency medical situation room during the holiday to ensure there are no gaps in the emergency medical system and plans to monitor the operation status of hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies that remain open.

In addition, to prepare for the possibility of a large number of patients, the province will maintain an emergency contact system so that the Disaster Medical Assistance Teams (DMAT) of the designated disaster base hospitals (Mokpo Korea Hospital and St. Carollo Hospital) and the rapid response teams of public health centers can be dispatched promptly.

Jeong Gwangseon, Director General of Health and Welfare of Jeollanam-do Province, said, "We will work closely with city and county governments to ensure that the emergency medical system operates seamlessly so that residents and visitors returning home for the holidays can spend a safe festive season," adding, "We will do our utmost to ensure that there is no inconvenience in the use of medical services by residents and those returning to their hometowns."
