Maximum Personnel Deployment on Lunar New Year’s Day

Goseong County in South Gyeongsang Province has begun full-scale preparations for the Lunar New Year holidays, putting in place a comprehensive plan for the holiday period for this traditional national holiday.

"Overflowing with Hope and Happiness, Goseong" ... Goseong County Activates Comprehensive Lunar New Year Holiday Plan

The county has drawn up 11 action plans across 4 key areas: boosting vitality in the local economy and stabilizing prices of holiday necessities, supporting vulnerable and marginalized groups, ensuring 24-hour safety, and providing uninterrupted public services. A total of 133 county employees will be on duty in the situation room during the holiday period.

The comprehensive situation room will be organized into 10 teams, headed by the deputy county governor, to respond to various disasters and safety incidents. It is scheduled to operate from February 14 to 18.

The county announced that from February 2 to 18 it has designated a "Special Countermeasure Period for Lunar New Year Holiday Price Stabilization" and will operate a price stabilization situation room as part of efforts to curb price hikes for holiday necessities. The aim is to ease the burden of holiday shopping costs.

In addition, the county plans to promote consumption and revitalize the local economy through measures such as traditional market shopping events for the Lunar New Year holidays, Onnuri Gift Certificate refund events, and initiatives to boost "Good Price Stores" linked to the Lunar New Year period.

Meticulous welfare administration to share the warmth of the holidays will also be implemented. By February 13, the county plans to deliver gift packages to 838 low-income and vulnerable households and 1,020 patriots and veterans' families, and to visit welfare facilities to offer encouragement and help foster a warm holiday atmosphere.

Furthermore, for children at risk of missing meals, the county will provide meal support during the holiday period and will organize inspection teams to check on child welfare facilities, in order to address any blind spots in the welfare system.

During the holidays, the Disaster and Safety Situation Room will function as a 24-hour command center (control tower) for disaster response to ensure the safety of county residents. The county plans to maintain a constant situation-management duty system and focus on preventing fires and natural and social disasters, while responding to various incidents.

In addition, an emergency medical situation room will be operated mainly through public health centers and sub-health centers to maintain emergency medical and on-call treatment systems. In particular, the county intends to minimize confusion among residents regarding emergency medical services during the holidays by providing prior information and publicity about designated hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies that will remain open.

Public services in Goseong County will continue without interruption during the Lunar New Year holidays.

Household waste will be collected as usual on three days during the holiday period, but there will be no collection on February 15 and on Lunar New Year’s Day, February 17. As a countermeasure, the county plans to deploy special collection teams and mobile cleaning teams to actively respond to anticipated complaints related to household waste.

Other measures include operating a complaint center for urban gas supply inconveniences, implementing a rotation-based operating system for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) vendors, and designating dedicated zones for emergency water supply, so that any inconvenience experienced by residents during the holidays can be addressed promptly.

Cho Seokrae, Director of Budget and Planning, said, "As many residents have been looking forward to the Lunar New Year holidays, we are thoroughly preparing to ensure a safe and comfortable holiday for everyone," adding, "We will do our utmost to enable all residents to enjoy a happy holiday through comprehensive measures that cover all aspects of daily life, including prices, medical services, and safety."
