Dongkook Pharmaceutical announced on February 11 that on February 9 it held a meeting at its headquarters in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, together with the Intellectual Property Office, to prevent the distribution of counterfeit products of its dermocosmetic brand Centellian24 and to protect consumers.
On the 9th at Dongkook Pharmaceutical's headquarters in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, a meeting was held with the Intellectual Property Office to prevent distribution of counterfeit products of the dermocosmetic brand Centellian24 and to protect consumers, and Kim Yongseon, Head of the Intellectual Property Office (fifth from the left), Song Junho, CEO of Dongkook Pharmaceutical (sixth from the left), and others posed for a commemorative photo. At this meeting, officials from both sides shared the current situation of counterfeit product distribution and their response status, focusing on domestic online and overseas distribution channels, and held extensive discussions on institutional and practical cooperation measures for cracking down on counterfeit goods and blocking their distribution. In particular, they agreed that the counterfeit goods issue has a significant impact on consumer safety and brand credibility, and reached a consensus on the need for continued cooperation.
At the meeting, CEO Song Junho of Dongkook Pharmaceutical said, "Thanks to the swift and proactive cooperation of the Intellectual Property Office in addressing trademark infringement, we have seen meaningful changes, such as the disappearance of most counterfeit products online during the recent three-day intensive crackdown period," adding, "I would like to express my deep gratitude to Director Kim Yongsun and all the officials at the Intellectual Property Office for their efforts to protect the company's intangible assets, and I look forward to your continued support in the future."
Kim Yongsun, head of the Intellectual Property Office, responded, "K-Beauty, which has grown into a leading global industry representing our country, relies on the protection of intellectual property rights for brands, technologies, and designs as a core element of its competitiveness," and added, "We will do our utmost to provide institutional and administrative support so that outstanding K-Beauty brands such as Dongkook Pharmaceutical's Centellian24 can further enhance their global competitiveness."
Meanwhile, Dongkook Pharmaceutical recently reported that major popular products under the Centellian24 brand, such as Madeca Cream and Melacapture Ampoule, are being distributed with an appearance that is very similar to the genuine products, and that these counterfeit items carry a high risk of causing serious side effects when applied directly to the skin because their ingredients cannot be verified. The company is actively informing consumers, through its official website and informational materials, about how to distinguish genuine products from counterfeits, and is urging them to purchase products only through officially certified sales channels.
