Active in President Lee Jaemyung's think tank during his candidacy
Extensive experience in the insurance industry, including as President of the Asia-Pacific Risk and Insurance Association
Kim Heonsu, Professor in the Department of IT Financial Management at Soonchunhyang University (pictured), has been nominated as President of the Korea Insurance Research Institute.
The President Candidate Recommendation Committee of the Korea Insurance Research Institute (the Recommendation Committee) announced on the 10th that it had recommended Professor Kim as the 7th President.
The Recommendation Committee selected Professor Kim Heonsu as the final candidate through an interview screening held that day and submitted a single-candidate recommendation to the General Meeting. The appointment of the President is scheduled to be finalized at the General Meeting of Members of the Korea Insurance Research Institute to be held on the 24th.
The members of the Korea Insurance Research Institute consist of 21 life insurance companies and 17 non-life insurance companies.
Professor Kim graduated from the Department of Business Administration at Pusan National University and received his Ph.D. from Georgia State University in the United States. He served as President of the Asia-Pacific Risk and Insurance Association in 2011 and as President of the Korean Insurance Academic Society in 2017. In 2018, he accumulated extensive experience across the insurance industry by serving as Chair of the Financial Supervisory Service's Insurance Industry Supervisory Innovation Task Force (TF) and as Chair of the Research Advisory Committee of the Korea Insurance Research Institute. During the last presidential election, he served as Co-Vice Chair of the Finance Subcommittee at "Growth and Integration," the policy think tank for President Lee Jaemyung when he was a presidential candidate.
