Police Identify Crime Scene Using GPS Location Data
A man in his 20s who assaulted a woman while coercing her into sexual intercourse in a heavily intoxicated state has been caught by the police.
The Seocho Police Station in Seoul announced on the 9th that it had booked a 25-year-old man, identified only by his surname A, without physical detention on charges of rape causing bodily injury.
According to the police, in the early morning of the 8th, A is suspected of demanding sexual intercourse from a female employee and assaulting her at an entertainment establishment located in Seocho District.
The investigation found that when the employee refused his demands, A took her belongings and assaulted her, including by grabbing her by the neck.
The police, who were dispatched after receiving a report, arrested A at the scene in the act. Although the victim was unable to speak after calling the 112 emergency hotline, it is reported that the police were able to pinpoint the crime scene in about 10 minutes after the report by using GPS location data and other information.
