Even under difficult conditions, with a high seas advisory in effect for the Sinan area of South Jeolla Province and passenger ship services to six islands suspended, author Park Seokbae's book launch event concluded successfully.
The book launch was held at 2 p.m. on the 7th in the multipurpose auditorium on the second floor of the Kim Daejung Nobel Peace Prize Memorial Hall. Despite bad weather and transportation restrictions, about 500 local residents and figures from various sectors attended to celebrate the publication. The presence of attendees who made their way to the venue despite strong winds and high waves reflected the atmosphere of interest in and support for Sinan.

The event was organized to commemorate the publication of Park Seokbae's book, "Wind Blows in Sinan: In the Memory of the Wind." Although there was some regret that residents of certain island areas could not be there in person due to the rough seas, there was a shared sense at the venue that the hearts of the island residents were with them.
Former National Assembly Speaker Chung Sye-kyun, Kim Won-i, Chair of the South Jeolla Province Chapter of the Democratic Party of Korea, Park Chan-dae, Floor Leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, and National Assembly Member Seo Young-kyo, among others, congratulated the publication through congratulatory remarks and video messages. Attendees expressed their empathy for the author's long-standing work and sincerity in the local community alongside residents.
The new book, "Wind Blows in Sinan: In the Memory of the Wind," contains the lives and voices of residents as seen and felt by the author over decades of visiting sites across the region in person. Through conversations and records of daily life in alleys and fields, at piers and in fishing villages, the book unpacks critical reflections on the region's realities and changes.
In his greeting, author Park Seokbae said, "Today's gathering is more than a book launch; it is a new beginning for Sinan," adding, "The lives and voices of county residents I met in the field formed the foundation of this book." He continued, "My thoughts are with the island residents who could not be with us because of the rough seas, but I hope today's message will be delivered throughout Sinan."
Despite the adverse conditions of a high seas advisory, the book launch, which concluded with the participation of many people, became an opportunity to once again confirm empathy and interest in Sinan, using a single book that records the local reality as a medium.
