Linking the Field Training Semester Program and the Work-Study Dual System
On-Site Experience During Enrollment Leading to Employment
Kyungnam University recorded an employment rate of 60.4% in the 2025 employment rate information disclosure data (as of December 31, 2024) recently announced by the Ministry of Education and the Korea Educational Development Institute, achieving the highest employment rate among four-year universities in the Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam region with 2,500 or more graduates.
This is the result of all members of Kyungnam University consistently joining forces to improve the quality of education and to strengthen overall employment support.
This achievement is evaluated as an indicator showing that practice-oriented, student-centered education and systematic employment support are actually leading to employment. Kyungnam University has established an educational environment in which students can accumulate sufficient on-site experience along with their major studies, with "student success" as its core value, and has continuously advanced its employment support system with the goal of cultivating talents who can be deployed directly to industrial sites immediately upon graduation.
In particular, the performance of the Field Training Semester Program stands out. The employment rate of students participating in Kyungnam University's Field Training Semester Program was up to 13% higher than that of non-participating students, demonstrating that on-site experience during enrollment naturally leads to employment after graduation. Based on these results, among universities in the Gyeongnam region, the university ranked first for two consecutive years in the number of standard field training participations relative to the number of enrolled students, recording 393 cases in the 2024 disclosure and 265 cases in the 2025 disclosure.
In addition, among universities participating in the 2025 "Gyeongsangnam-do Field Training Support Project," it was introduced as an excellent case of establishing a virtuous-cycle employment model through the Field Training Semester Program. Its operational performance was also recognized externally, as it won the silver prize for two consecutive years and additionally received the bronze prize in 2025 at the Best Practices Contest for the Standard Field Training Semester Program hosted by the Korea Association for Cooperative Education (KACE).
At the same time, through the Work-Study Dual System Specialized University Project Group, the university is operating the only pilot project for a Work-Study Dual System Specialized University in the southeastern region in 2025, and is the only institution nationwide implementing the newly introduced autonomous training courses within the specialized university project. In 2025, it worked with 37 participating companies and 87 work-study trainees, surpassing the target of 65 trainees and achieving an accomplishment rate of 133.8%. This represents a 313% increase compared to 30 trainees in 2024.
Park Taehyun, Director of the Talent Development Office, said, "Kyungnam University's high employment rate is the result of consistently building an educational system that strengthens practical experience during enrollment, such as the Field Training Semester Program and the Work-Study Dual System," adding, "Going forward, we will continue to closely link industrial sites and university education, focusing on the Field Training Support Center and the KAP Project Group, so that students can grow into competitive talents immediately upon graduation."
