Goryeo Celadon Museum tourism souvenir special exhibition
Half-price auction and discount sales of wood-fired kiln works
The Goryeo Celadon Museum in Gangjin County, South Jeolla Province, has prepared related programs such as exhibitions and auctions ahead of the 54th Gangjin Celadon Festival.
The Goryeo Celadon Museum announced on the 4th that, capitalizing on the recent global success of K-Pop Demon Hunters, it is preparing an exhibition of tourism souvenirs themed on Goryeo celadon, along with sales and auction events for celadon works.
A special exhibition of tourism souvenirs and new products is being held on the first floor of the lobby of the Gangjin-gun Goryeo Celadon Museum. Provided by Gangjin-gun.
In the first-floor lobby of the museum, a special exhibition of celadon tourism souvenirs has been held since this month. This exhibition brings together in one place the tourism souvenirs developed last year by pottery artists in Gangjin County and is designed to make Goryeo celadon feel more familiar and approachable.
The exhibition features everyday items and gift products that combine modern design and practicality with the artistic and historical value of Goryeo celadon. Reflecting recent tourist consumption trends, it also includes design products offered at relatively reasonable prices.
In the space opposite the special exhibition, works to be submitted for auction from wood-fired kilns and general kilns, which will take place during the Gangjin Celadon Festival, are also on display. The half-price auction will begin at 2:00 p.m. on the 28th and will proceed in a format where bidding starts at 50% of the regular price. Products from official kilns will be sold at a 30% discount.
The works submitted for auction will be sold through an offline auction program held during the festival period, and visitors will be able to view the pieces in advance. Works fired in wood-fired kilns and works from general kilns that apply traditional techniques are exhibited together.
The tourism souvenirs on display and some new products can be purchased at the private kiln section of the Cheongjachon Joint Exhibition and Sales Hall, at the premium products shop within the festival venue, and at private kiln stores. Auction pieces will be sold through the official kiln section of the Cheongjachon Joint Exhibition and Sales Hall.
The Goryeo Celadon Museum in Gangjin County stated that, through this exhibition, sales, and auction program, it plans to operate a viewing, experience, and purchasing route that is linked to the Celadon Festival.
