"Miji Answer Forum" Shares Vision for an Aerospace Hub City
On February 3 at 2:00 p.m., Sacheon-si in South Gyeongsang Province successfully held the forum <Miji Answer Forum Sacheon> at the main auditorium on the second floor of City Hall, under the theme "Golden Time for Space - The Answer Lies in the Special Law for a Complex City."
The forum was organized to seek an institutional foundation for Sacheon-si to take a leap forward as an aerospace complex city, and to discuss both the necessity of enacting a special law for the aerospace complex city and its policy effects.
The event began with a welcome address by Lee Sangcheol, President of The Korea Times, followed by congratulatory remarks from National Assembly Member Seo Cheonho, Vice Administrator Noh Kyungwon of the Korea AeroSpace Administration, Sacheon Mayor Park Dongsik, and Goheung County Governor Gong Youngmin, adding significance to the forum.

In the keynote and special lectures, Hwang Howon, President of the Korea Aviation Safety Technology Institute and currently a professor in the Department of Air Transport and Logistics at Korea Aerospace University, explained the justification for enacting the Special Act on Aerospace Complex Cities under the theme "The Necessity of Enacting the Special Act on Aerospace Complex Cities and Its Policy Effects."
Next, Shin Sangjun, Executive Director of the Future Strategy Office at Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI), presented an outlook for the industry and measures to strengthen national competitiveness under the theme of the future of K-Aerospace.
In addition, Kim Jongsung, Research Fellow at the Gyeongnam Research Institute, presented a strategy for creating a new aerospace industry belt connecting Sacheon and Goheung, thereby giving concrete shape to the vision of an aerospace complex city as a national growth hub.
During the comprehensive discussion session, Professor Myeong Noshin of the College of Aerospace Convergence at Gyeongsang National University served as moderator, while experts from industry, academia, and research institutes participated as panelists and engaged in in-depth discussions on the urgency of enacting a special law to promote balanced regional development and foster national strategic industries.
The panel was composed of Lee Sangseob, Head of the Strategic Planning Division at the Korea Aerospace Industries Association, Kim Taehyung, Chairman of the Manufacturing Subcommittee Association at KAI, Choi Seongim, Professor in the School of Mechanical Engineering and Robotics at the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology, and Kim Yonggyu, Professor at the Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation of Sunchon National University.
Meanwhile, Miji Answer Forum Sacheon was hosted by Sacheon-si and Goheung-gun and organized by The Korea Times, with sponsorship from Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI), Hanwha Aerospace, and NH Nonghyup Bank.
Mayor Park Dongsik stated, "This forum was a meaningful occasion to discuss practical solutions for Sacheon to take a leap forward as the central city of the aerospace industry in the Republic of Korea," adding, "We will do our utmost to ensure that, through the enactment of the Special Act on Aerospace Complex Cities, Sacheon can firmly establish itself as a key hub leading the nation's future strategic industries."
