According to the Gyeonggi Fire and Disaster Headquarters and other authorities, the fire started at around 2:29 p.m. on the 3rd at the SPC Samlip Sihwa plant in Jeongwang-dong, Siheung-si.

When the fire broke out, Siheung-si sent a disaster alert text message at 3:16 p.m., asking residents to "Please be advised that a large amount of black smoke is being generated due to a factory fire. Vehicles in the area should take detours, and nearby residents are asked to keep their windows closed and take safety precautions."

The police and fire authorities plan to conduct a search for any missing persons and, once the flames are brought under control, investigate the exact cause of the fire.
