On-Site Efforts for Efficient Operation of Craft Infrastructure
and Revitalization of Local Culture
The Planning and Culture Committee of Jinju City Council announced on February 3 that it had visited the Jinju Mok Craft Training Center, located in Myeongseok-myeon, to inspect the current status of the facility's operations and discuss future plans to revitalize craft culture.
This visit was organized ahead of the transfer of operations of the Jinju Craft Creation Support Center. The committee aimed to examine the facilities and operating conditions of the Mok Craft Training Center, where the center is housed, and to review how feedback collected during a meeting with the Jinju Craft Artists Association at the end of last year has been reflected.

Through this visit, the Planning and Culture Committee plans to minimize potential confusion during the upcoming transfer process to the Jinju Cultural Tourism Foundation and to review ways to ensure the stable and efficient operation of the craft infrastructure.
The Jinju Mok Craft Training Center is a complex craft culture space equipped with exhibition halls, workshops, experience rooms, lecture rooms, and the Craft Creation Support Center. Since its opening in November 2018, it has operated education, exhibition, and experience programs based on traditional somokjang (woodcraft master) techniques.
On this day, the committee listened to explanations from relevant departments regarding the overall operation of the training center and focused on inspecting the management of hands-on events and woodworking education programs, which attract 10,000 citizens annually.
Chairman Jeong Yonghak stated, "The Jinju Mok Craft Training Center plays an important role as a space for the succession of traditional crafts and as a citizen-participatory cultural venue. Through this site visit, we will identify operational improvements and carefully consider effective support measures to revitalize the region's craft culture."
