Achieves First-Author Publication with Qualitative Study on Public Sector Career Paths
A research paper co-authored by Hye-won Jeong, a student in the Department of Employment Service Policy at Korea University of Technology and Education, has been published in a scholarly journal indexed in domestic academic citation databases.
A research paper with an undergraduate student from the Department of Employment Service Policy at Korea University of Technology and Education as the lead author has been published in a scholarly journal indexed in the Korea Citation Index (KCI).
On February 2, Korea University of Technology and Education announced that a paper with Hye-won Jeong, a fourth-year student in the Department of Employment Service Policy, as the first author, was published in Volume 34, Issue 1 of the KCI-listed journal "Open Education Research" on January 31.
The title of the paper is "How Are Public Sector Career Paths Chosen and Prepared For?: A Qualitative Meta-Summary of the Interaction Between Personal and Environmental Factors." The paper systematically organizes the interaction between personal and environmental factors by synthesizing and analyzing previous qualitative studies on how young people choose and prepare for careers in the public sector.
Hye-won Jeong stated, "It was a meaningful experience to reflect on both research and career planning at the same time."
Professor Hye-eun Lee, the supervising professor, commented, "This is an example of undergraduate education leading to research achievements."
The Department of Employment Service Policy at Korea University of Technology and Education is the first department in Korea established to nurture professionals in employment services, and through competency-based education, students can obtain Level 1 Career Counselor certification.
