Full Efforts to Ensure Resident Safety
Geochang County in South Gyeongsang Province plans to hold a safety management meeting ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday to prepare for various disasters and safety accidents. The county will operate a 24-hour disaster and safety situation room throughout the holiday period, making every effort to ensure the safety of residents.
This meeting is intended to proactively respond to potential safety incidents such as increased traffic volume, fire hazards, and risks of heavy snow or cold waves during the holiday. The county will maintain an emergency response system centered on the disaster and safety situation room.
During the holiday, the disaster and safety situation room will handle the reception and prompt reporting of disaster incidents, monitor weather conditions and disaster signs, maintain close cooperation with related organizations such as fire departments, police, and medical institutions, and provide initial response and situation management in the event of a disaster.
Additionally, the county will implement holiday safety measures for each sector, including inspections of fire-prone facilities, safety management of multi-use facilities, road traffic safety management, and protection of vulnerable groups against cold waves.
A county official stated, "We will maintain a 24-hour emergency response system so that all residents can enjoy a safe and comfortable holiday," and added, "We also ask residents to actively cooperate in fire prevention and compliance with safety regulations."
Meanwhile, Geochang County plans to implement comprehensive winter disaster and safety management measures, including operating a special task force for wildfire prevention and establishing response systems to prevent infectious diseases and livestock epidemics during the holiday season.
