Recruitment Notice for Universities Participating in the "Global Talent Employment Leading Universities" Program
and Institutions Operating the "K-Export Warrior Academy"
On January 30, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced that it will recruit universities to participate in the "Global Talent Employment Leading Universities" program and institutions to operate the "K-Export Warrior Academy," in order to expand employment opportunities for domestic foreign students and address the manpower shortages faced by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
The Global Talent Employment Leading Universities program supports the employment of foreign students in SMEs by providing customized employment education, internships, and field training opportunities. The K-Export Warrior Academy aims to train foreign students with a strong understanding of overseas markets as export specialists for SMEs by offering job training in export-related fields such as trade practices, and connecting them with employment opportunities at export-focused SMEs.
The Ministry will also announce the application and acceptance process for employment recommendations for professional personnel visas (E-7-1) related to the recruitment of foreign students, as well as for recommending the conversion of non-professional personnel (E-9) to skilled personnel (E-7-4) for those other than foreign students. This year, the number of documents required from companies has been reduced to six, making the process more convenient for businesses. In addition, three new job categories-overseas sales representatives, product planning specialists, and research specialists-have been added to the 24 existing occupations eligible for E-7-1 visa recommendations by the Ministry, further strengthening support for the employment of foreign students in SMEs. Detailed information can be found on the websites of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency.
