Geochang County Council Shares Outcomes of Overseas Official Trips... Discusses Incorporation into County Policy

Seeking to Integrate Overseas Business Trip Outcomes into County Policy Beyond Simple Reporting

On January 28, it was announced that a meeting was held in the Special Committee Room of the Geochang County Council, attended by all council members and relevant officials from Geochang County Office, to share the outcomes of the 2025 overseas official business trips and discuss their incorporation into policy. The meeting was held to review the achievements of the 2025 overseas official business trips with the executive branch.

This meeting was organized to ensure that the key policy recommendations from the "2025 Geochang County Council Overseas Official Business Trip Report," which was presented at the second regular session of 2025, would be practically integrated into county administration. The significance of the meeting lies in the fact that, rather than simply reporting the results of the trip, the council collaborated with on-site project leaders such as the Chief Strategy Officer, the Director of Urban Architecture, and the Head of Environmental Affairs and Changpowon, to examine the feasibility of the proposed policies and to brainstorm together.

The meeting focused on policy recommendations, benchmarked from advanced cases, for various pressing issues currently facing Geochang County. These included the construction and effective operation of a crematorium, strategies to revitalize Changpowon, and the operation of resident-led urban regeneration projects in response to the decline of the old downtown area.

The council members urged the executive branch to actively review the best practices identified during the overseas business trips so that they can be adapted to the realities of Geochang County. They emphasized their hope that these proposals would help improve the lives of county residents.

In response, the heads of relevant county departments present at the meeting stated that they would actively review the advanced policies proposed by the council and strive to provide higher-quality administrative services.

Previously, from November 4, 2025, the Geochang County Council conducted a five-day benchmarking visit to Fukuoka and Nagasaki, Japan, to explore solutions to the challenges currently facing Geochang County.
