The city and the Office of Education held the conference on the 22nd at the Busan City Hotel in Yeonje-gu, Busan, presenting exemplary domestic and international cases of AI education to establish a vision for the future of education.
Jangbogo Economic School is a program where students develop their thinking and creativity by directly solving problems based on real-life topics that are easy to encounter, such as revitalizing the local tteokbokki business district.
Since last year, the curriculum has incorporated AI, allowing students to analyze business districts, establish product display and sales strategies, and then have AI visualize and implement these strategies through a dual-brain learning process. This year, the program was held 135 times, with 2,788 participants completing the course.
The Institute stated that Jangbogo Economic School was selected as a model case for AI education at the conference and presented its results on-site. Experts evaluated Jangbogo Economic School as an impressive educational model necessary for nurturing talent in the AI era.
During the expert discussion, Jangbogo Economic School introduced its approach, where students independently expand their thinking and AI supports this process, despite the absence of a standardized curriculum for youth AI literacy education.
Park Sung-ho, head of the Department of AI Convergence Education at Pusan National University, said, "While other programs focus solely on AI utilization, Jangbogo Economic School was impressive in guiding students to expand their thinking through the observe-think-explore stages."
The Institute plans to expand Jangbogo Economic School nationwide starting this year. Previously, the program was mainly conducted in Seoul and the metropolitan area.
Institute Director Ha Tae-kyung said, "Jangbogo Economic School has fostered students' creativity by integrating AI into the curriculum so that people play a leading role even in the AI era," adding, "We will expand the program nationwide so that young people across the country can experience economic education utilizing AI."
