At around 2:26 a.m. on January 25, a passenger car collided with a guardrail, overturned, and caught fire near Yanghwa Bridge, south of World Cup Bridge, in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul.
The driver, a man in his 20s, and a passenger, a man in his 30s, both sustained serious injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. It has been reported that neither of their lives is in danger.
The police and fire authorities deployed 66 personnel and 22 pieces of equipment, and managed to completely extinguish the fire at around 3 a.m., about 30 minutes after the accident occurred.
The police are investigating the cause of the accident, including collecting the driver's blood sample to determine whether drunk driving was involved.
