Youngwoong Era Supports Remote Himalayan Schools
Providing Annual Salaries for Local Korean Teachers and Engaging in Volunteer Activities
The fan club of singer Lim Youngwoong, "Youngwoong Era," has reportedly continued its charitable activities for the fourth consecutive year.
On January 23, the Youngwoong Era Daejeon Chungnam Regional Branch announced that it has been providing ongoing support for four years to remote schools in the Himalayas of Nepal and to schools near Kathmandu.
This regional branch provided 6 million won for the annual salary of a Korean language teacher at Bany Villas Secondary School and delivered winter supplies and volunteer goods worth 2 million won to Baraburi Elementary School.
The donated items were personally delivered by the Himalaya Remote School Exploration Team from the Chungbuk Mountaineering School, which is affiliated with the Korea Alpine Federation. The 21-member exploration team visited Nepal from January 7 to January 21 during their 20th expedition, completed the Annapurna Khopra Danda course, and conducted volunteer work and homestays while observing the local educational environment.

The Chungbuk Mountaineering School exploration team has been conducting high-altitude trekking on the Pokhara Annapurna Mardi Himal course for 19 years, delivering volunteer services and souvenirs to both schools. The Youngwoong Era Daejeon Chungnam Regional Branch has been making donations through the Himalaya Exploration Team for three consecutive years, from 2023 to this year.
This year’s activities included an open class at the Korean language classroom of Bany Villas Secondary School, which drew particular attention. It was reported that the exploration team and support staff were deeply impressed to see students singing the Korean national anthem before class and then participating in the Korean language lesson.
In Nepal, the demand for Korean language is so high that Korean teachers are considered high-income professionals. Korean is a popular subject among local students, and the Korean language classroom at Bany Villas Secondary School is operated with support from the Youngwoong Era Daejeon Chungnam Regional Branch. At the entrance to the classroom, there is a sign reading "Youngwoong Era Korean Language Classroom," and next to the blackboard is a banner featuring singer Lim Youngwoong.
A representative of Youngwoong Era stated, "Students enjoy listening to Lim Youngwoong’s music in their free time and find joy in learning Korean."
Meanwhile, Lim Youngwoong and his fan club, Youngwoong Era, have consistently engaged in donations and volunteer work. The fan club has donated a total of 1,168,340,000 won over five years in celebration of Lim Youngwoong’s birthday. Lim Youngwoong himself also recently donated 200 million won in the name of the fan club to help areas affected by heavy rainfall.
