A Total of Nine Locations Including Gu Office Station Exit 3 and Rotary Shopping Center
On January 23, Yeongdeungpo-gu in Seoul (headed by District Mayor Choi Hokwon) announced that it has newly designated two additional alley-type shopping districts to revitalize local commercial areas and support small business owners, bringing the total number of such districts in the area to nine.

The newly designated locations are 'Yeongdeungpo-gu Office Station Exit 3' and 'Yeongdeungpo Rotary Shopping Center.' Both areas are local commercial zones where small business owners are concentrated. They were selected as alley-type shopping districts based on the need to revitalize these areas and their potential for further development.
The area around Yeongdeungpo-gu Office Station Exit 3 features office buildings and apartment complexes, and is a key transportation hub where subway lines 2 and 5 intersect, resulting in high foot traffic. The alley commercial district is centered around restaurants, with 102 stores currently operating.
The Yeongdeungpo Rotary Shopping Center alley-type shopping district consists of 47 stores. Its location between Yeongdeungpo Market and Times Square makes it easily accessible and offers significant potential for synergy with surrounding commercial areas.
Once designated as an alley-type shopping district, businesses in the area can register as Onnuri Gift Certificate affiliates and receive a range of administrative and financial support, such as commercial revitalization contest projects and facility modernization initiatives. This is expected to strengthen the self-sufficiency of local commercial districts and boost regional consumption.
Including the two newly designated districts, the district now operates a total of nine alley-type shopping districts: ▲Seonyudo Station ▲Daerim Jungang ▲Saetgang Duri ▲Seonyu Roadun ▲Star Light New Town ▲Daerim-dong Uri ▲Yangpyeong 1-dong Eoullim, among others. In July of last year, the district eased the requirements for designation by amending relevant ordinances, thereby establishing an institutional foundation. Since then, it has continued to support the revitalization of local commerce through management modernization, fostering specialized markets, and hosting holiday events.
Choi Hokwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, stated, "I hope the designation of these alley-type shopping districts will enhance the competitiveness of small business owners and inject new vitality into the local commercial sector," adding, "We will systematically invigorate the local economy by discovering commercial areas suited to on-site conditions and providing tailored support."
