With the wage and collective bargaining agreement negotiations between Seoul city bus labor and management reaching a settlement on the 14th, buses will operate normally from the first service on the 15th.
The Seoul City Bus Labor Union and the management, represented by the Seoul City Bus Transportation Business Association, reached a final agreement on the mediation proposal for the wage and collective bargaining agreement at the second follow-up mediation meeting of the Special Mediation Committee on labor disputes, held at the Seoul Regional Labor Relations Commission at around 11:50 p.m. that day.
Accordingly, the bus union will withdraw the general strike that began on the 13th after two days and resume normal operations from the first service on the 15th.
The mediation proposal agreed upon by both labor and management includes a 2.9% wage increase and an extension of the retirement age. Previously, the union had demanded a 3% wage increase and stated that the issue of ordinary wages would be discussed at a later date.
With both sides agreeing to the mediation proposal, the city will lift the emergency transportation measures prepared in response to the strike and resume normal public transportation operations.
Seoul Mayor Oh Sehoon said, "I welcome the decision of both labor and management of city buses, who did not stop the dialogue despite difficult circumstances and took a step back to reach an agreement. I am deeply grateful to every citizen who maintained order and showed understanding amid the confusion."
