A Total of Nine Artists Selected, Including One Short-Term and Eight Long-Term Residents
Yeongcheon City announced that it completed the selection of the 18th group of resident artists for the Yeongcheon Arts Creation Studio in 2026 and officially began their residency on January 12.
This year’s recruitment for the 18th group attracted artists who are actively creating works not only in Yeongcheon but also from various regions across the country, including Gyeonggi Province, Seoul, Chungnam, Gangwon, Jeonnam, Busan, Daegu, and Gyeongbuk.
The final selection was made through a two-stage process: a document screening and an interview, both conducted by the Yeongcheon Arts Creation Studio Resident Artist Selection Committee, which is composed of administrative and art experts.
The selected resident artists include one short-term artist and eight long-term artists, totaling nine artists, specializing in various genres such as painting, sculpture, and installation.
The 18th group of resident artists will stay at the Yeongcheon Arts Creation Studio for approximately one year, from January 12 through December, continuing their creative activities. Starting with a preview exhibition in April, they will present the results of their year-long creative work to the public through a series of solo exhibitions beginning in October.
A city official stated, "Since the selected artists are young and talented individuals chosen through intense competition nationwide, we expect them to engage in vibrant creative activities during their residency." The official added, "We hope the Arts Creation Studio will become a community-based residency space where artists not only grow individually but also interact, collaborate, and develop together."
