The Ungcheon National Sports Center, located within Yi Sun-sin Park, has a total floor area of 2,495 square meters and consists of one basement level and two above-ground floors. The project was selected in 2019 for the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's public sports facility expansion support program. A total budget of 10.6 billion won was invested, including 4 billion won from the National Sports Promotion Fund, 600 million won in special grants, and 6 billion won from the city budget.
The main facilities include a swimming pool with four 25-meter lanes, a multipurpose gymnasium, and multipurpose rooms.
In particular, the swimming pool underwent a three-week trial operation from December last year to January this year to ensure stable facility management for the official opening and to improve convenience for citizens.
A city official stated, "The opening of the Ungcheon National Sports Center marks the starting point for a healthier future for our citizens and will further strengthen the foundation for community sports throughout Yeosu. We will do our utmost in the operation and management of the center so that it remains a beloved space for citizens for years to come."
