Gwangmyeong City in Gyeonggi Province is accepting applications from apartment complexes wishing to participate in the '2026 Apartment Complex Support Project' until January 14.

Gwangmyeong City Accepting Applications for Apartment Complex Environment Improvement Project Until the 14th

The support project covers seven areas: ▲Support for costs related to fire safety and other safety management facilities (175 million won), ▲Installation of automatic rooftop door opening/closing devices (250 million won), ▲Replacement of outdated elevators (120 million won), ▲Maintenance and management of common facilities (490 million won), ▲Improvement of security office working conditions (30 million won), ▲Support for rest facilities for security and cleaning workers (35 million won), and ▲Support for communal electricity bills in public rental housing (98 million won).

For the support project related to fire safety and other safety management facilities, the focus will be on apartment complexes with pilotis parking structures and other fire-prone areas. The support also covers the installation of various fire and safety facilities, such as improvements to electric vehicle charging station safety, installation of flood barriers, and reinforcement of sprinklers and fire detection systems.

The city will especially provide up to 500,000 won per device for the installation of automatic rooftop door opening/closing devices to ensure rapid evacuation in emergencies such as fires, with the goal of equipping all apartment complexes in the city within the year.

For apartment complexes that have been subject to mandatory management for more than 15 years since completion, the city will support the repair and replacement of outdated elevators.

Support will also be provided to improve the living environment. For apartment complexes that are over 13 years old, the city will assist with the maintenance and repair of common facilities such as roads, streetlights, sewage systems, senior centers, children's playgrounds, parking lots, CCTV, and facilities for people with disabilities within the complex.

Support for improving security offices and rest facilities for security and cleaning workers includes not only physical renovations such as structural, ventilation, and shower facilities, but also the purchase of items such as air conditioners, sofas, and water purifiers.

Apartment complexes wishing to apply can visit the Housing Division at Gwangmyeong City Hall or submit their application by mail. Application forms can be downloaded from the notice board on the Gwangmyeong City Hall website.

The city also plans to implement a 'Small-Scale Apartment Complex Support Project' this month, which will prioritize the repair and reinforcement of facilities that pose safety risks in small-scale apartment complexes with fewer than 30 households, as these are excluded from the current support project.

Park Seungwon, Mayor of Gwangmyeong, said, "With policies that encompass both living environment improvements and housing welfare, we will create a city where every citizen can live with peace of mind."
