Kakao Recruits Former Woowa Brothers CTO Song Jaeha to Oversee Technology and Platform Stability

Kakao is bringing in Song Jaeha, former Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Woowa Brothers.

According to the IT industry on January 8, Kakao is currently in the process of internally appointing Song as CTO. After his official appointment later this month, Song will be responsible for overseeing Kakao’s company-wide technology operations and platform stability.

Born in 1973, Song graduated from the Department of Korean Language and Literature at Sungkyunkwan University and earned a master’s degree in software engineering from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). He has previously served as Team Leader and Data Center Technical Director at NCSoft’s Openmaru Studio, Data Infrastructure Team Leader at SK Planet, and CTO at Yanolja.

Kakao stated, “Song has established platform technology systems and operated services for tens of millions of users at companies such as Woowa Brothers and Yanolja. Based on this experience, we expect him to contribute to the stable management of the company’s overall technology operations.”

Meanwhile, Jeong Gyudon, who was appointed as Kakao CTO in April 2024, is scheduled to step down upon the expiration of his term.
