Kim Myungin, Professor Emeritus of Korean Language Education at Inha University, Appointed Director of the National Museum of World Writing Systems

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on January 8 that Kim Myungin, Professor Emeritus of Korean Language Education at Inha University, has been appointed as the Director of the National Museum of World Writing Systems. His term will last for three years.

The newly appointed director, Kim Myungin, is a literary critic who majored in Korean language and literature. He has studied the social significance of literature and writing culture, working across both the publishing industry and academia. He has served as editor-in-chief at Pulbit Publishing House and as managing editor of the quarterly magazine 'Hwanghae Culture,' while also conducting research and teaching as a professor in the Department of Korean Language Education at Inha University.


The National Museum of World Writing Systems collects materials, holds exhibitions, and conducts research and educational programs on writing systems from around the world, including Hangeul. Since its opening, the museum has seen a steady increase in visitors and has established itself as a major cultural facility in the region.


Choi Hwi-young, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, stated, "We expect the new director to play an important role in helping the National Museum of World Writing Systems broaden understanding of cultural diversity through writing systems and contribute to enhancing public enjoyment of culture."
