Namyangju City in Gyeonggi Province announced on December 30 that it has approved the designation and development plan for the 'Wangsuk Urban High-Tech Industrial Complex,' a core self-sufficient facility of the 3rd New Town. With this, Namyangju City has laid the foundation to move beyond being a bedroom community and to emerge as a 'one million mega-city' concentrated with high value-added industries.

The Wangsuk Urban High-Tech Industrial Complex will be established in the Jingeon-eup area of Namyangju, covering approximately 1.2 million square meters (about 360,000 pyeong). This makes it the largest in the Seoul metropolitan area, about 1.7 times the size of Pangyo Techno Valley.
The city plans to foster this area as a knowledge-based advanced industrial cluster, focusing on information and communication technology (ICT), artificial intelligence (AI), and bio-medical devices. In particular, as this industrial complex project was recently selected as one of the 'Top 100 Regional Investment Projects in Korea,' the city is making every effort to attract leading domestic and international anchor companies, leveraging its excellent location.
The Wangsuk Urban High-Tech Industrial Complex boasts overwhelming superiority in terms of transportation accessibility. With a 'triple station area' connecting the GTX-B line, Subway Line 9, and the Gyeongchun Line, it enables access to Gangnam in about 20 minutes and Yeouido in about 30 minutes. In addition, the city plans to supply land to tenant companies at cost, provide tax benefits such as acquisition and property tax reductions, and offer a variety of administrative support packages.
Starting from this approval, the city plans to begin land supply and complex construction work in the first half of 2026, aiming for completion in 2032. Notably, major IT infrastructure investments have already been confirmed, including Woori Financial Group's Digital Universe, Kakao's Digital Hub, and Shinhan Financial Group's AI Infinity Center, accelerating the transformation of the industrial ecosystem.
Furthermore, in January 2026, the city will finalize the 2030 Master Plan for Corporate Attraction to systematize its mid- to long-term corporate attraction strategies, and in March, after obtaining implementation plan approval, it will begin full-scale development. Additionally, the city plans to hold a large-scale investment briefing session during the same month to promote the investment appeal and competitiveness of the Wangsuk Urban High-Tech Industrial Complex to the public and to strengthen communication with companies and investors.
A Namyangju City official emphasized, "The Wangsuk Urban High-Tech Industrial Complex is the key engine that will drive Namyangju's future growth," adding, "We will create high-quality jobs favored by young people and develop this area into an innovation hub that attracts companies, thereby reshaping the economic landscape of northeastern Gyeonggi Province."
