Three students and graduate students from Chonnam National University have been recognized for their achievements in fields such as artificial intelligence (AI)-based drug discovery, eco-friendly energy technology research, and regional cultural planning, and have been awarded the '2025 Korea Talent Award.'

According to Chonnam National University on December 31, Go Subon (Master's Program in Medicine), Yoo Minseo (Department of Materials Science and Engineering, College of Engineering), and Choi Hyeji (Master's Program in Music) received the Minister's Award at the ceremony held at the Government Sejong Convention Center on December 24.

The Korea Talent Award is a flagship talent selection program jointly organized by the Ministry of Education and the Korea Student Aid Foundation. It aims to discover and encourage young talents who create new values needed by society and contribute to the development of the community.

This year, a total of 100 recipients were selected through regional evaluations and the Ministry of Education's central evaluation committee, including 40 in the high school and youth category and 60 in the university and general youth category.

Go Subon conducted research on AI-based protein design for new drug development and received the Best Presentation Award at the 'DTMBIO 2024 International Conference.' Currently, Go is focusing on the development of personalized immunotherapies by advancing AI-based protein immunogenicity prediction technologies.

Yoo Minseo published a first-author paper in an international journal on the development of catalysts for the photoelectrochemical nitrogen reduction reaction, and has accumulated outstanding research achievements, including two lead-author papers, six presentations at domestic and international conferences, and two patents. Yoo is being recognized as a promising researcher in the field of next-generation eco-friendly energy technologies.

Choi Hyeji founded and leads the Gwangju-based youth classical music group 'Arplanet,' directly planning and directing a total of 14 performances. Choi has been highly praised for experimenting with performance models led by local young artists and contributing to the expansion of the regional cultural ecosystem and the strengthening of cultural planning capabilities.

A representative from Chonnam National University stated, "This award is an example of the results of our efforts to foster convergent talents across AI, engineering, medicine, and culture and the arts. We will continue to actively support talented individuals who combine academic achievement with social engagement so that they can connect the region with the world."
