First in the Insurance Industry to Obtain Certification
Hanwha Life announced on the 31st that it has become the first company in the insurance industry to obtain the international standard certification for artificial intelligence (AI) security governance, 'ISO/IEC 42001'.
ISO 42001 is an international standard for AI management systems established by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). It is the highest level of certification system that evaluates whether AI providers, developers, and users have established systematic controls and accountability throughout the entire AI lifecycle, from planning and development to operation and disposal.

With this certification, Hanwha Life has further strengthened the security of its various services, including Direct AI, AI STS, and AI Translation Assistant. By minimizing security risks such as prompt injection attacks and personal data protection issues that may occur in the process of providing AI services, the company expects to enhance customer trust.
During the certification process, Hanwha Life met a total of 38 control items, including the establishment of internal regulations, management standards for training data including models and personal information, as well as risk management and monitoring systems.
The company has advanced its 'AI risk management system' to proactively identify and manage various risks that may arise during the pre-introduction, development, and operation stages of AI systems, such as algorithmic bias, deterioration of data quality, and security vulnerabilities. Likewise, its 'AI data management system' ensures the protection of personal information and adherence to data ethics throughout the entire process of collecting, storing, and processing AI training data.
Hanwha Life plans to proactively respond to the increasingly stringent regulatory environment at home and abroad, including the 'AI Basic Act', and to strengthen its competitiveness based on AI security governance that meets global standards.
Lee Changhee, Head of COE Division at Hanwha Life, said, "This ISO 42001 certification is significant in that Hanwha Life has been internationally recognized for using AI technology safely and responsibly," adding, "We will continue to systematically enhance AI security and internal controls to provide digital insurance services that customers can trust."
