100 Senior Housing Units to Be Supplied in Hanam Gyosan Public Housing District

One hundred senior housing units will be established in the Hanam Gyosan public housing district in Gyeonggi Province.

On December 30, Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Development Corporation (GH) announced that the integrated public rental housing project for Block A3 within the Hanam Gyosan public housing district was finally selected as the project site in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's "2025 Second Half Senior Welfare Housing Specialization Project Contest."

With this selection, GH will supply 100 out of the 1,100 integrated public rental housing units in Hanam Gyosan Block A3 as senior-specialized housing.

Senior welfare housing is a type of public rental housing that provides both barrier-free residential spaces and social welfare facilities, offering a safe living environment and welfare services to seniors aged 65 and older who do not own a home.

GH plans to differentiate the social welfare facilities within the complex through close cooperation with Hanam City.

Going beyond simple care services, the project will introduce a variety of spaces that combine jobs, culture, and leisure to support economic independence and social participation for seniors. Multifunctional spaces such as job counseling rooms, shared workshops, bubble laundries, cafe lounges, and multipurpose rooms will be established.

In addition, Block A3 will not be an exclusive complex for seniors but will be developed as integrated public rental housing where various generations, including young people and newlyweds, can live together.

GH will strengthen community programs to encourage communication and community activation among different generations sharing the same space.

Kim Yongjin, President of GH, stated, "With this selection, we have laid the foundation for seniors to stay safely in their familiar surroundings and enjoy a healthy old age." He added, "GH will do its utmost to create innovative spaces that go beyond simple housing supply, leading generational integration and improving the quality of life for seniors."
