"2025 Travel Trends" Unveiled
Eastar Jet announced on December 30 that it transported 5.6 million passengers this year, a 23% increase compared to last year, bringing its cumulative passenger total to 12 million.
The airline added five new B737-8 aircraft to its fleet, operating more than 34.2 million kilometers-the equivalent of circling the globe 853 times. With the addition of new routes to Almaty, Kazakhstan, and Manado, Indonesia, the total number of destinations has increased to over 30.
The most popular international routes were Incheon-Osaka, Incheon-Tokyo, and Incheon-Fukuoka. On domestic routes, Gimpo-Jeju accounted for over 70% of all domestic passengers, making it the most heavily traveled.
Chinese routes, in particular, saw a surge in popularity. The number of passengers increased by more than 128% compared to last year, and the average load factor per flight rose by over 28%.
Foreign passengers made up approximately 30% of the total, with Taiwanese (38%), Japanese (32%), Chinese (18%), and others (12%) in that order.
By age group, those aged 25 to 44 accounted for the largest share at 45%, while passengers aged 15 to 24 and 45 to 54 each made up about 14%. The youngest and oldest passengers were 0 and 103 years old, respectively.
An Eastar Jet representative stated, "Next year, we will further strengthen our safety capabilities and continue to work on improving service quality."
