Survey of Winter Bonuses at 164 Major Japanese Corporations by Keidanren
Summer Bonus Rises from 990,000 Yen to 1,004,000 Yen, Marking the Largest Increase
The average winter bonus for employees at major Japanese companies reached 1,004,841 yen (approximately 9.32 million KRW) this year, up 8.57% from last year.
According to local media such as the Mainichi Shimbun on December 25, a survey conducted by Keidanren (Japan Business Federation), an economic organization in Japan, found that the winter bonus at 164 major companies with more than 500 employees exceeded 1 million yen for the first time since 1981.

By industry, manufacturing increased by 1,056,966 yen (approximately 9.82 million KRW), up 10.09%, while non-manufacturing rose by 896,495 yen (approximately 8.33 million KRW), up 5.79%.
Previously, in the first tally of this year's summer bonuses, Keidanren announced that the average bonus at 107 major companies across 18 industries with more than 500 employees was 990,848 yen (approximately 9.32 million KRW) per person, up 4.37% from last year.

Keidanren cited two main factors for the increase in bonuses: the rise in monthly salaries, which serves as the basis for bonus calculations, and strong business performance, particularly in the manufacturing sector.
