A total of 856 apartment units will be supplied in Sadang District 17, Dongjak-gu, Seoul.


On December 25, the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that it held the 14th Urban Planning Committee's delegated subcommittee meeting and approved with amendments the designation and maintenance plan for the 'Sadang District 17 Housing Maintenance-Type Redevelopment Project' in Dongjak-gu.


Sadang District 17 is characterized by its scenic location near the National Cemetery and steep terrain. About 15 months after being selected as a candidate site for the Rapid Integrated Planning initiative, the project has completed the review by the Urban Planning Committee's delegated subcommittee. This is the fastest progress since the introduction of the Rapid Integrated Planning system in Seoul.


With this decision, 856 apartment units (including 143 rental units) will be supplied at a floor area ratio of 249.79%. The buildings will be no higher than 23 stories, creating a natural umbrella-shaped skyline that harmonizes with nearby apartment complexes and Hyeonchung Neighborhood Park.


Additionally, since the project site is a steep area with significant elevation differences, the plan includes three-dimensional pedestrian connections such as decks to address the inconvenience of moving within the neighborhood. Dongjak-daero 35-gil and surrounding roads will be improved to create a safe streetscape with separated sidewalks and roadways.


The city stated, "Although the goal of the Rapid Integrated Planning initiative is to designate zones within two years of candidate site selection, the Sadang District 17 project was completed in just 15 months, demonstrating swift progress. We will ensure thorough management of the process by promptly carrying out integrated reviews in areas such as architecture, transportation, education, and environment."
