Cheongsong County, known as the "Oxygen Cafe," has now transformed into a "hot spot for employment."
Cheongsong County in North Gyeongsang Province (Governor Yoon Kyunghee) received the Excellence Award in the Outstanding Policy category at the "2025 Gyeongbuk City and County Job Creation Performance Evaluation." The award recognized the county's efforts to overcome the major wildfire damage that occurred in March and restore stability to the local community.

This evaluation, organized by North Gyeongsang Province, assessed the 2025 job creation performance of 22 cities and counties in the province, dividing the results into overall performance and outstanding policy categories.
Among the participants, Cheongsong County was honored with the award for its "Public Emergency Job Support Project for Wildfire Victims," which was implemented swiftly to stabilize the livelihoods of residents affected by the wildfire and received high praise.
In the face of significant losses-including casualties, damage to homes, crops, and forests-caused by the large-scale wildfire, the county prioritized the practical livelihood stability of disaster victims and regional recovery, launching the emergency job project as its top priority.
The project, with a total budget of 425 million won, was operated for about four months. It employed 92 people, including disaster victims and their family members, who participated in various recovery activities such as environmental clean-up in affected areas, support for disaster victims, and administrative assistance.
Notably, this emergency job project provided an opportunity for residents to directly participate in restoring their own communities, strengthening both their determination to overcome the disaster and their sense of community solidarity. Both participants and beneficiary residents expressed high levels of satisfaction.
A Cheongsong County official stated, "This job project went beyond simply providing short-term employment; it was a practical disaster response policy that supported the livelihood stability of disaster victims and contributed to regional recovery and economic revitalization. We will continue to actively promote various job policies to improve the quality of life for residents and achieve sustainable regional development."
