Gwangju City Rises to Grade 2, South Jeolla Falls to Grade 4... In this year's comprehensive integrity evaluation of public institutions, Gwangju City rose by one level to Grade 2, while South Jeolla Province fell by one level to Grade 4. The integrity scores of major metropolitan and basic local governments, public institutions, education offices, and assemblies in Gwangju and South Jeolla showed mixed results.


According to the results of the public institution integrity evaluation announced by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission on the 23rd, Gwangju City received a Grade 2 in the comprehensive integrity evaluation, reflecting a Grade 3 in perceived integrity and a Grade 2 in integrity efforts, which is an improvement of one level from last year. In contrast, South Jeolla Province recorded a Grade 4 in comprehensive integrity, with a Grade 5 in perceived integrity and a Grade 4 in integrity efforts, marking a decline of one level compared to the previous year.


For education offices, the Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education remained at Grade 4, the same as last year, while the South Jeolla Provincial Office of Education dropped by one level to Grade 4. Among metropolitan councils, the South Jeolla Provincial Council fell by one level to Grade 2, while the Gwangju Metropolitan Council maintained Grade 3, the same as last year.


In the public corporations and public enterprises sector, Jeonnam Development Corporation rose by one level to Grade 1, and Gwangju Urban Corporation improved by one level to Grade 3. In the university sector, Chonnam National University maintained Grade 2, the same as last year, while Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology rose by one level to Grade 3.


Among public institutions in Gwangju and South Jeolla, Boseong County, Haenam County, Jeonnam Development Corporation, and Boseong County Council received Grade 1. Of these, Boseong County achieved Grade 1 for three consecutive years, and Boseong County Council for two consecutive years. On the other hand, Yeosu City and Gangjin County Council recorded the lowest Grade 5.


Among the basic local governments in South Jeolla, at the city level, Mokpo and Suncheon Cities received Grade 3, Gwangyang and Naju Cities received Grade 4, and Yeosu City received Grade 5. At the county level, Boseong County received Grade 1; Damyang and Jindo Counties received Grade 2; Gangjin, Goheung, Gokseong, Muan, Yeonggwang, Jangseong, Jangheung, and Hampyeong Counties received Grade 3; and Gurye, Shinan, Yeongam, Wando, and Hwasun Counties received Grade 4.


For Gwangju's autonomous districts, Buk District received Grade 2, while Nam, Dong, and Seo Districts received Grade 3, and Gwangsan District was evaluated as Grade 4. Among city-level basic councils in South Jeolla, Gwangyang, Naju, and Yeosu City Councils received Grade 2, while Mokpo and Suncheon City Councils received Grade 3. Among county councils, Boseong County Council received Grade 1; Goheung, Damyang, Muan, Yeongam, Wando, Jangseong, Hampyeong, Haenam, and Hwasun County Councils received Grade 2; Shinan, Jangheung, and Jindo County Councils received Grade 3; Gokseong, Gurye, and Yeonggwang County Councils received Grade 4; and Gangjin County Council received Grade 5.


In the basic councils of Gwangju, Gwangsan, Nam, and Dong District Councils received Grade 2, while Buk and Seo District Councils recorded Grade 3.
