The "Car-Free Jamsu Bridge Walking Festival," one of Seoul's representative pedestrian festivals, is held every spring and fall. During the event, the Jamsu Bridge is opened to the public without any vehicles, allowing citizens to freely walk and enjoy the festivities.
This fund was created by operating food trucks and flea markets during the festival periods in both the first and second halves of the year. It consists of a portion of the proceeds from a total of 87 food trucks and 133 flea market booths.
The entire fund will be used to support UNICEF projects that help children and adolescents worldwide overcome the climate crisis.
Park Jin-young, Director of the Seoul Metropolitan Government Future Hangang Headquarters, stated, "This donation, made possible by the active participation of citizens and participating businesses, is a meaningful example of how public festivals can create social value. Going forward, Seoul will continue to spread the value of sharing through public festivals and further strengthen social contribution activities through public-private cooperation."
Jo Mijin, Secretary-General of the UNICEF Korea Committee, said, "I would like to thank the officials at the Seoul Metropolitan Government Future Hangang Headquarters and the citizens for supporting children around the world through this festival of sharing. The heartfelt support you have provided will serve as a warm comfort and encouragement to marginalized children around the globe who are enduring the cold winter alone."
