Goesan County in North Chungcheong Province will provide a "Livelihood Stabilization Grant" starting in January next year to boost consumption and revitalize the local economy.
The Goesan County Council passed the 2026 main budget bill at the 347th 2nd regular session on December 19. As a result, the "500,000 won per resident Livelihood Stabilization Grant" project will move forward to the implementation stage in 2026.
The county has been preparing to provide approximately 36,000 residents with 500,000 won each, loaded onto the local currency "Goesan Sarang Card," between January and February next year. The total project budget is about 18.043 billion won, with most of the funds allocated to the grants.
The use of the grant will be limited to merchants affiliated with the Goesan County local gift certificate program, and the application and usage period has been under review to run from early next year through the first half of the year.
This project follows the enactment of the "Support for Revitalizing the Livelihood Economy" ordinance in October. The county explained that the grant distribution plan has become more concrete with the passage of the budget bill.
The application period will run from January 19 to February 27 next year, and the grant must be used by May 31.
In North Chungcheong Province, in addition to Goesan County, Yeongdong County and Boeun County have also decided to provide 500,000 won per resident, while Danyang County will provide 200,000 won per resident as a Livelihood Stabilization Grant.
