Cristiano Ronaldo, the Portuguese football star who became the first footballer to join the ranks of billionaires, has reportedly purchased two luxury mansions located on the west coast of Saudi Arabia.

This complex is situated on an island about 26 kilometers off the Saudi mainland and is accessible only by private boat or seaplane. It is reported that Ronaldo was attracted by the area's strict privacy and high exclusivity. Local sources speculate that he may purchase additional properties in the future.

Ronaldo stated, "From the first time I visited this island, I was deeply drawn to its natural beauty and tranquility," adding, "Now I can spend time with my family in complete privacy whenever I wish."

The complex consists of only 19 mansions, designed to preserve the natural environment as much as possible, and offers world-class bespoke services. Ronaldo purchased one villa with three bedrooms for his family to stay together and another villa with two bedrooms for relaxation. The starting price for the mansions is 15.5 million Saudi riyals (approximately 6.1 billion won), but the exact amount Ronaldo paid has not been disclosed.

This real estate purchase came shortly after Ronaldo was evaluated as the first footballer in history to become a billionaire. Bloomberg estimated Ronaldo's net worth at about 1.4 billion dollars (approximately 2 trillion won), taking into account his career earnings, investments, and advertising contracts. This far exceeds the wealth of his rival, Argentina's Lionel Messi.

In a recent interview with British broadcaster Piers Morgan, Ronaldo expressed pride in his financial success, stating, "I am the only billionaire in football," and "Becoming a billionaire was one of my main goals." While he avoided specifying his exact net worth, he emphasized, "Numbers do not lie."

According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Ronaldo earned more than 550 million dollars in salary alone from 2002 to 2023. This is in addition to lifetime contracts with Nike, endorsement and sponsorship deals with global brands such as TAG Heuer, Armani, and Louis Vuitton, as well as various investment returns. Currently playing in the Saudi league, he is known to earn about 300 pounds (approximately 600,000 won) per minute.
