The Power of "Ttok Bus" in Eliminating Public Transportation Blind Spots
Awarded as an Exemplary Department for Proactive Administration by the Board of Audit and Inspection
The Department of Metropolitan Transportation Policy at the Gyeonggi Province Transportation Bureau was selected as the "2025 Exemplary Department for Proactive Administration" by the Board of Audit and Inspection. This selection aims to identify and promote outstanding cases of proactive administration across the public sector. Gyeonggi Province was the only metropolitan local government among the five award-winning institutions nationwide, officially receiving recognition for its achievements in transportation administration innovation and was awarded a commendation from the Chairperson of the Board of Audit and Inspection on the 19th.

The Board of Audit and Inspection comprehensively evaluated the Department of Metropolitan Transportation Policy at the Gyeonggi Province Transportation Bureau based on several criteria: proactive efforts to resolve residents' inconveniences, achievements in institutional improvement and service innovation, and implementation of field-oriented responsible administration. As a result, the department was selected as an exemplary department.
In particular, the introduction and expansion of the demand-responsive transportation service (DRT), "Ttok Bus," which has substantially improved mobility rights in areas with limited access to public transportation, was recognized as a key best practice.
The Gyeonggi Province Transportation Bureau has significantly enhanced residents' accessibility to transportation by gradually expanding the Ttok Bus service, especially in new towns, rural and fishing villages, and transportation-disadvantaged areas where the existing fixed-route bus system could not adequately provide services.
Ttok Bus is a customized transportation service that operates flexibly according to user demand. It has been recognized for simultaneously achieving the elimination of public transportation blind spots, improving operational efficiency, and increasing user satisfaction. Notably, despite institutional and financial constraints, the stable establishment of the service through inter-agency cooperation and proactive administrative decisions has been cited as a model case of proactive administration.
Yoon Taewan, Director of the Department of Metropolitan Transportation Policy at Gyeonggi Province, stated, "We will continue to strive to ensure convenient and safe mobility for our residents," and added, "With this recognition as an exemplary department for proactive administration, we will further expand the Ttok Bus service so that more regions can conveniently benefit from it in the future."
