At the event, attended by approximately 900 provincial government employees, Jeonbuk Province introduced its regional growth strategy centered on the Physical AI demonstration project, which is a key initiative. Explanations and discussions were held to enhance public officials' understanding and consensus.

For the special lecture, Professor Jang Youngjae from the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at KAIST, an expert in AI and manufacturing innovation, was invited to give a presentation on "Manufacturing Physical AI and Technology-Based Regional Development Strategies."

Professor Jang pointed out, "While South Korea has world-class manufacturing competitiveness in semiconductors, secondary batteries, automobiles, and shipbuilding, there are limitations due to the large conglomerate-centered structure that relies on the burdens and workforce of partner companies from design to operation."

He further emphasized, "There are clear limitations to merely supplementing parts of existing factories while maintaining their traditional frameworks. It is necessary to transition to unmanned manufacturing environments where robots and automation systems collaborate, through Physical AI and dark factories."

The province plans to further develop concrete strategies to foster Physical AI as a future growth engine in connection with local industries.

During the event, achievements were also shared regarding the Housing and Architecture Division, which received a presidential commendation as an outstanding institution in the field of residential welfare, and Kim Jongman, an official from the Living Environment Division, who was awarded a presidential commendation for his contributions to the environmental management assessment of emission-generating workplaces.

Additionally, the "4th Quarter 2025 Innovative Governance Award" ceremony was held for departments that achieved outstanding results in actively promoting provincial government initiatives. The Grand Prize was awarded to the Policy Planning Office and the Employment and Livelihood Economy Division, while the Social Disaster Division, Road, Airport and Railway Division, 119 Integrated Situation Room, Financial Social Economy Division, Agro-Food Industry Division, and Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Social Service Center received Excellence Awards.

No Hongseok, Vice Governor for Administrative Affairs of Jeonbuk Province, stated, "There have been many achievements throughout 2025, but among them, Physical AI is particularly meaningful. With the related project exempted from the preliminary feasibility study and selected for the pilot project contest, Jeonbuk has laid the foundation to become a demonstration hub for Physical AI."

He added, "Next year, we plan to establish a Physical AI fund worth 25 billion KRW, and by 2030, build core infrastructure and technology to complete a project worth 1 trillion KRW. I ask everyone to join forces so that Jeonbuk can lead South Korea in the field of Physical AI."
